Will this diff lock fit?
Hi Guys,
Will a 33 spline H233B ARB Airlocker fit the front axle of a Patrol GL?
Thanks!

Re: Will this diff lock fit?
This is only my opinion, but a front diff-lock on a Patrol is a waist of money. Their was a cruiser on the river trip and I can now understand why Toyota fit them with these. they have NO wheel travel. On the first big obstacle the patrols cruised through as where this gentleman had his wheels in the air and was relying on his front locker. A Patrol has so much wheel articulation that even the rear locker is very seldom needed.
rather use the money for a trip somewhere or something else on you Patrol.

Re: Will this diff lock fit?
Josh, remember that traction is not always lost due to a lack of articulation. Mud and so forth, articulation doesn't help.
Sorry Johann, I don't know the spline count but I think that is correct (I think the smaller cars have 31-tooth splines). Perhaps phone Graham?

Re: Will this diff lock fit?
I personally dont think a front locker is something I would spend money on at this stage. So far I have taken on every obsticle that came over my way and managed to do them all without allot of drama. If I had bought my Patrol with a front locker I would obviously have been very happy as it does come in very handy when you do need it.
Sorry if that didn't contrebute to your actual question, but found this on the ARB website. Seems like it should use a 31 spline locker. Think the one you are refering to might be one for a Hardbody.

Eish... 4x4 MW had a clearance sale on ARB Airlockers. There's none left. They were selling at R6500 per unit without the compressor and fitment. That would've been a score...

Out of interest sake, did anyone see how much my pickup's wheels lifted compared to the cruiser's? (I have no idea).
I have also considered getting a front locker maybe in the (distant) future. There was definitely obstacles where I had to gain some momentum in order to get over. And too much momentum on rocky terrain can be quite damaging to a vehicle.
(I only got the LSD in the rear - which I'm not 100% convinced that it is working the way it should)..

Re: Will this diff lock fit?
Fanus, about 1/4 as much. Despite you having much less load on.
You do realize that you can tighten that rear LSD up significantly for almost no cost don't you? This would definitely by my first move if I was in your shoes.

No, I didn't realise it. Thanks, I will look into this first.
Maybe then I wont need a front locker.

Re: Will this diff lock fit?
Peter, are you talking about these http://www.roadrunneroffroad.com.au/Nis ... -07mm.html
I have a H260 I'm fitting to the Sani. I need to strip to see what it looks like inside and replace the input bearing and seal as it is leaking. It seems to be LSD as my mate and I can not get the wheels to move independently from each other on the bench (I have not had it in the car yet). Our mechanic told us that he has seen the Patrols with LSD's so tight that this seems to be normal behavior. I am just worried that the farmer who had this diff before me has welded it .
Now the question is, will the additional friction plates not make the diff to stiff for road use? Then, the only locker I seem to find available for the H260, is the ARB unit, or am I not looking hard enough.
