sorry .... I didn't read the earlier posts properly.

Does your Patrol have a sunroof?

I am wondering if its a GLX that might have been ordered with a 4.2 diesel. If that is so.... then what a sweet ride !!!

Cedric...my Patrol does not have a sunroof. The AXT turbo system was imported from Australia and fitted onto vehicle. Then the clutch had to be changed to a double diaframe because the clutch started slipping after Turbo was fitted. I am not so clued up with all the differences between models of Patrols, therefore it would be nice to hear from you guys what the specs should be on the models....that makes mine different to the other standard GL 6cyl Diesels.

I owned a view Land Cruisers before, and know their specs better WWW

Cedric...I see you also own a 1999 - 4.2 Diesel with Turbo fitted....Is it also a GL? If it is why does your vehicle not have ABS?

I have also checked..on the plate in engine bay it says the following: MODEL TVTSREFY61NRAAT--U
If you have more info on how this model info reads....please tell me.

Thanks

Yeah, ours are "identical". Both are GL models.

The 4.2 Diesel between 1998 and 1999, as far as I know, only came out as a GL. However one could order certain extras like leather seats or a fuel sub tank. Mine has the leather seats, where standard came out with cloth seats, but no sub tank, just the switch below the rear window de-mister switch next to the radio. My instrument cluster doesn't have the sub tank gauge built into the main tank gauge either. I have seen a few 4.2 diesels with the sub tank and the subtank gauge in the instrument cluster.

The GL was the base model. The only features it had was electric mirrors, electric windows, power steering and an aircon. It also only came out in manual and without ABS but did come with one airbag in the steering wheel.

The GLX model only came out in Petrol, but from 2000 onwards the 4.2 diesel was phased out and replaced with the 3.0 diesel ( ZD30 ). This did come out in a GLX model.

The GLX had a few nice extras. Sunroof with a roof console that had map lights for driver and passenger and sunglasses holder with outside temp display and compass. I think the sun visors have back lighting in them too. There was standard sub tank and climate control for front and rear passengers ( which I think works much better with the amount of air volume in the Patrol ). There was passenger side airbag, and If I'm not mistaken, electric seats. There are a few other nice electronic bits and pieces to I think.

I don't understand the.... TVTSREFY61NRAAT--U
I wonder if this was an import from up north somewhere

Cedric...mine has got the sub-tank fitted with fuel gauge above main tank gauge on instrument cluster. And also driver airbag...and ABS disc brakes front and back. Normal cloth seats. The "model" number I quoted is right on the bottom of your plate in engine bay where your Vin, type and color trim info is. Check yours.

What turbo system do you have fitted in your vehicle....and how affective do you find it? In sand I find that there is almost nothing happening between 2000 to 3000 rpm.
