Ja Pieter, ek ook.
But now we must make sure that we use them regularly, because it seems to me that way they last much better.
So I will make sure I use it at least once this weekend, even if it is just on the dirt road leaving 3 Provinsies

I'm officially giving up on Nissan's OEM diff lock - mine worked only once after redoing the internals and then left me in the lurch at the AAWDC fun day.
Now I'm saving up for an ARB...

Dit werk mos maar altyd so ne, Murphy is n d*nner, maar jy sien nou darem daar's n paar ander uitwee, so as jy weer help nodig het met n solenoid wat breek dan moet jy maar laat weet, ons is hier om the help.
Wise words, these type of parts actually do tend to last longer with more frequent use, so manne, lets go get dirty!!!Peter Connan wrote:Ja Pieter, ek ook.

Re: Diff-lock (vacuum solenoid) problems? - We can help..
This weekend at 3 Provinsies I helped Pieter van As to get his rear diff lock working again (it was merely the vacuum lines that were connected incorrectly) and I noticed an interesting thing: One of his two original vacuum solenoids no longer works, so the previous owner connected up what looks like a single vacuum solenoid from a Gearmax diff lock system in its place. The Gearmax vacuum solenoid is not nearly in the class of the industrial quality PECS item, but it might just be a cheaper alternative that is actually good enough for the purpose? As it is a single solenoid, one would have to have two of them to totally replace the original Nissan (Hitachi) system.

Howzit
I also had problems with my difflock relating to the solenoids. I figures I had nothing to loose so I opened up the solenoid (requires bending some of the things that keep it together, although they can be bent back). It turned out that the solenoids did not work properly because there were some dust/soil that ended up keeping it from sealing proprely. This happened because the last rubber pipe downstream got loose and being vacuum it sucked up all kinds of nasties.
A good cleaning and lubrication fixed it up perfectly - have not had any problems since then.
I think the solenoids are such simple mechanisms that faults should be very rare.
