Facts about Diesel refined in SA and sold in all Southern African countries

** At a 200:1 volumetric blending ratio, 2-stroke oil has a negligible effect on diesel lubricity.
** All diesel fuel sold in South Africa has to meet the SANS 342:2014 lubricity specification to ensure the proper protection of diesel fuel pumps and injector systems.
** The low sulphur diesel products sold by Sasol contain lubricity improver additives which are far more effective than 2-stroke oil.
** At a 200:1 volumetric blending ratio, 2-stroke oil has a negligible effect on diesel cetane number.
** No measurable effect on all other regulated diesel properties was measured at a 200:1 dose of 2-stroke oil in diesel.
** 2-stroke oil can contain around 16ppm zinc, or higher depending on the formulation and batch.
** Trace amounts of zinc in diesel are known to rapidly accelerate injector nozzle deposits.
** Engine test results show that a 200:1 blend of 2-stroke oil in diesel results in a 2% loss of engine power in a 16 hour test due to injector fouling, a risk that would apply to any common rail diesel engine, but could also worsen fouling in older engines.
** Vehicles fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in the exhaust system could experience reduced DPF life due to the collection of ash and metal based contaminants in the filter over time with the continued use of 2-stroke oil.

Been using it for 270000km when i can find 500ppm havent had a problem yet ...is this for common rail only?

It mentions it is not to be used in CR, yes.

It does however say that it has NO ADVANTAGES for ANY diesel engine, as all fuels in SA has to conform to a standard, which in turn ensures sufficient lubrication

Sasol 10ppm werk soos in glad nie in my lorrie nie klink of mens klippe in die sump het .

Ek vermy alle bymiddels.

In my opinie is dit dieselfde as om voorskrifmedisyne by die dokter te kry, en dan op pad huistoe nog ekstra pille by die apteek ook te gaan koop! :mytwocents:

I have just completed 4400 km Outreach trip through Richtersveld.
I started of with 50 ppm diesel and no 2.SO. The Patrol was sluggish an running high EGT's all the wile.
At Vryburg I filled with 500 ppm. After about 50 Km the EGT's started behaving and. in Upington filled with 50 ppm. On the way to Goerapan the EGT again went up, but not as high as at the start.
Next I filled up at Grootderm with 500 ppm again PLUS added 2SO. From there to Springbok the EGT's stayed below around 400, In Springbok filled with 500 ppm again. in Port Nolloth only 50 ppm, Then we did the Richtersveld plains, the dunes,
In Richtersveldt Nat. Park I added 20 litre of 50 ppm,
On leaving at the end of the Outreach, we filled in Springbok with 500 ppm and I added 250 ml of 2SO.
The clattering in the engine reduced when I fill with 500 ppm. If I add 2 SO on the 50 ppm it also runs quieter and the EGT runs lower temps

I add 2 SO and I advocate the use of it. That so-called "Lab Test" was done with the intention to prove a specific finding, not convincing at all.
In real life, on my diesel vehicles, the ZD.30 Hard Body AND the 4,2 Patrol the performance goes up, the fuel consumption improves, th eEGT and temp runs cooler AND the clattering quiets down, some.

Al wat ek kan se is dat na 819 000 km sonder enige bymiddels gaan ek verseker nie nou begin met allerhande truuks en foefies - beslis nie: non flammable liquid graphite (2SO) !

Dagsê almal,

Miskien is die outjie wat dit aan my verkoop het 'n baie goeie salesman, miskien is dit omdat ek in Duitse kwaliteit glo, miskien omdat ek reeds eenkeer 'n trekker se Common rail Injectors moes laat doen het oor vuil diesel, my vorige Navara s'n ook, en 'n pel van my se Toyota Hilux (een vuil tenk is al wat dit vat en common rail injectors baie DUUR!)...

Ek gebruik nou al vir meer as 'n jaar Wurth Diesel Cure. In my bulk storage vir die plaas (wat 50ppm is vir die Common Rail trekkers), en ek ry 'n botteltjie saam in my Patrol vir die 50ppm pompe.

Volgens Wurth is die beter smering op ou pompe eintlik net die byvoordeel. Dit bind met onsuiwerhede soos water en parrafien, en laat dit veilig deur die ontbrandingsproses gaan. Anderdag het 'n werker wat bedank het my probeer saboteer en my Buffel se hele tenk diesel vol water gegooi. Die ou ding het gestart van die diesel in die pomp en daarna gevrek. Ons het hom later aan die brand probeer sleep! Eers heel laaste in die tenk gekyk.
Nou as die mannetjie slimmer was, het hy 'n koppie vol water ingegooi. Genadiglik is die injectors en pistons nog heel; maar ek moet sê, ek was bly oor daai Wurth Diesel Cure in die diesel!

Toe ek my Trol gekoop het, het Tinus my BAIE tips gegee oor die ou enjin en dit klop met wat ek ook by meer as een tegnikus gehoor het oor smering op die ou trekkers se dieselpompe. So, ek het begin met 500ppm, en 2SO by as ek 50ppm ingegooi het. Ek wil my ook verbeel dat die brandstofverbruik beter op die 500ppm is.

Toe Michael my kar se enjin ge-turbo het, het ons die injectors ook gedoen. Hul was wel toegepak met sludge, maar ek het geen idee of dit my 2SO of die vorige eienaar se "keuse" van diesel was nie - die kar het maar altyd die 5-6000km tussen dienste spandeer op 'n road trip deur Suidelike-Afrika, so ek glo daar is diesel van alle grade en geure ingegooi!

Wurth se produk is baie duurder as 2SO (laaste berekening so 22c/l diesel ingemeng) - ongeveer R18 ekstra op 'n 80l tenk - maar ek reken dalk net 'n beter opsie. Ek maak op die plaas vol (50ppm + Diesel Cure) en 500ppm waar ek kan kry. Ek gooi slegs Diesel Cure by wanneer ek 50ppm in dorpe ingooi (ongeveer 80ml op 100l).
