4.8 GRX replacement radiator shroud

Post by Stefan_Olivier »

Good day.

I recently irreparably damaged my radiator shroud while installing a new radiator unit. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement part in the Highveld?

I phoned the local Nissan dealership and they quoted R1800, which I think is a bit much for a piece of plastic...

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,

Nissan, like most OEMs, do not hesitate to charge thousands for mere pieces of plastic.

Call Dawid from Warmbad.
He may able to help

I wanted a radiator overflow water bottle cap, a yellow non-pressurised one, just bigger than a milk bottle top (48mm), about the same thickness and same wobbly construction, for my Nissan Terrano. I could not get that size top anywhere else, so had to buy it from Nissan. R686 before VAT!!!

So your R1800 is cheap by comparison!!

Google and phone City Deep Scrap yard near the Jhb Municipal Market. They keep a lot of 4x4s and quite a few Nissans 4x4s at that.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

I will give both options a go and see which one turns out best.

At that price, are you 100% sure there’s no way to fix yours?
Lots of pratley putty etc?

I don't know if the radiator shroud is very different from the '01 3.0 but just want to post a heads up here to all Patrol owners. After many miles of corrugated roads, the plastic catches at the bottom of my radiator shroud wore down allowing the bottom to cut through the lower tubes of my radiator. I was camped on the banks of the Kunene river after having done Van Zyls and was pleased it never ran out of water then. As Graham said, lots of Pratley putty once again got me going after another radiator disaster. I also built up buffers of Pratley to prevent it ever happening again. I don't have any picks with me over here, but did post some a few years ago
