 Sounds like me. Oil everywhere each time.

My fuel filter gave me about 40 minutes of grief last month. The fuel lines were so stuck on the filter that I almost had to call my wife to do it. But that thought gave me the motivation I needed and I managed. When I poured the fuel out the old filter, it was BROWN! Really happy I did it and I think it was last done by G-Tech many years ago.

Also I used the Shell Helix mineral oil, not a synth or semi-synth this time, and it runs a lot smoother. just my 2c worth of info.

Yip, I’ve got one. Very handy thing.
Thanks for the tip on the bricks

So far. The 4.5 used a little bit of oil from time to time when I had hx7 in, seems to be better now.

Oil change done.
Took about 2 hours, but that involved a slight misshap where i was a little over zealous with the pouring and added about 500ml too much.
I didn’t know such stress existed until lying under the car, slippery sump plug in one hand and a small container in the other, knowing one slip of that sump plug and I’ll have 7l of new oil everywhere!
Once the plug was back in I actually had to take a moment flat on my back under the car to calm down.

I also used the shell hx5. Hopefully it helps a bit with the oil use. I think I used close to a litre in this last 10 000kms

I didn’t unfortunately.
I did pull the airfilter out just to check. It was very clean - even when I hit it against the tyre minimal dust came off, until I hit the metal part of it on the rim by mistake and bent the little lip on the cirmuference of the filter housing. After that I decided it was enough diy/ buggering up for one day.
