Waterpump

I took off the waterpump and there does not seem to be much wrong with it, the impellers are slightly worn. I think I might have wasted money buying a new one.

Or will the corroded impellers make a big difference?

That looks fine to me all the blades are there

I have seen way worse, but actually still looks fine. That being said the piece of mind will be in the new pump.

The corrosion on that impeller would not make a difference IMHO, but any pitting on the surface of an impeller will increase cavitation.

Use the new one...

The problem usually lies with the bearing/seal. And then the inconvenience of having to drain and replace expensive antifreeze, removing the radiator and fanbelts. Rather just buy a good quality new pump.

I see you bought a new pump & you pulled the old one out so best idea is to fit the new one...

Note sure why you opted to pull the old one - now that you have done so best is to put a new one back.

My 2000 Patrollie has now done 806000 km yes 806 thousand - still the original water pump....

That is pretty amazing! Mine has done 380000 and I noticed recently that my water has gone brown in the cooling system. Time for a new Pump??

Doubt it .... but definitively time for a good flush of the entire cooling system and replacement of the antifreeze..... BUT PLEASE USE QUALITY ANTIFREEZE, and NOT the cheap stuff. This is the ONLY time other than Head Gaskets on a TD42 where I would recommend Nissan Original.

Or you can use aftermarket, but don't buy cheap, and mix 100% to the correct ratios. Cooling fluids should be changed probably every 100 000Km, but would have to check the manuals.

I do mine every 50 000 odd Km
