I would suggest getting hold of Engines and More in Hartbeespoort. They will deliver, and I have only heard good things about them. 0122532485

Not sure whether they would have an L28 in stock, but it does not hurt to give them a call and ask.

I'll keep my eye out in the mean time in any case.

Morning
I changed my safari from a L28 to a rd28 motor many years ago
The bell housing is the same but it does not bolt directly on to the motor' there is one of the main bolts on top that you have to weld up and redrill, most rd motor you can get are automatic, I have only every seen one at Japan auto that was manual. The L 28 flywheel hole pattenis the same and it bolts straight on ,so there is no Hassel's on the clutch side , the motor mountings will need to be fabricated, I use the old ones from the L28
And adjusted them with the bracket that come with the Rd motor.
Water pipes also needed to be rerouted , it needs a bleeder hole to make sure on to close to the head , had difficulty getting all the air out of the system
I also put a small turbo on it , more like a altitude compensated, with a boost of 0,5
Turn the fuel up on the pump , no android was fitted so it did smoke lower down and pull away
When buying the rd28 motor look out for the oil supply hole on the exhaust side , make life
A lot easier and shorter pipes for the turbo oil supply and the turo drain is also there are
Some have it some don't
And also a big intercooler in front of the radiator
The first motor I fitted was a dud , but wanted a diesel in the safari so I bought another (R4500
Then next one gave me many happy hours and trouble free
The old girl still starts at a swing of a key and get a run every now and again
But like any conversions there are snags , the motor without the turbo will be a real donkey for the farm, any other questions give me a call
regards Juice

Juice beaam alles wat ek gesê het, behalwe dat die flywheel 1mm groter geboor moet word, en ringgear vervang moet word na rd ringear om diesel starter te vat
