Injectors, on the other hand, is cheap to have tested and can save you your engine. Having them pop tested and to have their pressures reset will probably cost less than R1,000 and is worth it!
So what would be the reason for testing my injectors? Just asking as I don't know when it was last done and I have not done it since I bought the vehicle...

Taking that it is getting close to 430k I would just like to make sure I can do another 400k  It gets it oils done every 5k and full service every 10k

Dirk, I was told to service the injectors every 90 000Km, but I know some guys have probably never checked them. General rule of thumb is that if you have used some dodgy diesel or had water in the diesel that managed to get through to the injectors then give them a service, I know Grant was a little .... ok a lot of "OCD" about his Patrol when he owned it, so I am pretty sure that the diesel he put in was never dodgy paraffin type diesel found in many african countries. I know Steves Auto in Centurion did the servicing on his Patrol, so either give grant a call or contact Mynhart at Steves and ask him to check through the records.

Signs of vrot injectors is loss of power, excessive black smoke, and poor fuel economy. I would think.... purely an assumption..... that you have at least another 50 000 odd kilometers left before you need to give the injectors a service. Luckily our injectors are all mechanical so not much can go wrong other than wear & tear from crappy diesel.

Dirk on a standard (non modified)diesel ,turbo or not if you starting to see that WHITE SMOKE bellowingout on first starts its normally a sign of an injector (or two or more) losing its required pressure settings and allows diesel to drip onto the piston
so when you crank your engine over with that raw fuel on top of the piston the engine compression ratio has gone through the roof and that anil ok with a self tapping hammer and babbellas is going crazy inside the engine
and as we all should know ....that's not good for any engine
you crack pistons ..pre-combustion chambers..small end bushes bend conrods etc.etc.etc.

Net so vinnig: dankie vir Tinus se goeie raad! Laat die enjin warm gloei totdat die gloeidrade se liggies afgaan EN die "relay" afskakel. Lg is 'n hoorbare klikgeluid.

As ek bietjie diesel trap vat hy viniger...

Michael - ek moet dan by jou uitkom  , myne start net as ek hom 2 x laat "kliek" anders gooi hy ongelooflike bolle rook as jy hom - te vining- start....
