Cruise Control

Post by Rhett »

Hi guys

Aiiiiii, so I am still not happy with the cruise control on my 4.8. I did the mod so I could use it in manual, and testing it on my way home today was a bitter experience.

Example: I set the cruise control at 100km/h. Take my foot off the accelerator, nothing happens. For a few seconds the car just coasts. It drops to about 85km/h, all of a sudden it gears down, and then suddenly accelerates me to 120km/h. It will then change to a higher gear and all of a sudden begins its coast routine again. I tried it in manual mode as well. In 4th gear, it gears down to 3rd and slingshots me past the poor tannie next to me, who immediately tells me to grow up. (for example  )

Now I was wondering if it could be a faulty vacuum motor or vehicle speed sensor? All previous auto's I've had never gave such an issue with CC. I remember reading a thread a while ago about it being a common problem?

Maybe you should clean the Abs sensors they do seem to gather iron fillings and maybe its getting wrong speed signals....
