Safe to drive with this..?
I need to collect a hunting frame for my bakkie in Springs tomorrow... But then this:
Noticed a few drops of oil on the garage floor and looked underneath. Is it safe to do a round trip of 670km with a leak like this?

Re: Safe to drive with this..?
That looks like engine oil.
The crank seal next to the flywheel is probably leaking.
Should be okay if you regularly check the oil level.
Get the seal replaced asap. Also check for crank case overpressure/blowby pressure. Clean the breather as a start.

Good thing you don't drive a landy - you would have had a heart attack by now.
Use to have a Disco 2 - garage floor is still stained by all the oil leaks - loved it to bits though.

Yoh... That is quite a leak.
I had to replace the crank seal shortly after buying my Patrol, but that leak was tiny...
Anyways, guess you can do a round trip with it, provided you keep an eagle eye on the levels, but I would have that looked at sharpish...

Re: Safe to drive with this..?
My Patrol is going in on Monday to have the madman installed, will have the leak checked out at the same time.
I was wondering if the oil is not perhaps gearbox, because of the location? But if it is engine oil then it should be easy to just check everry few 100 km's.

I know, when I saw the oil drops on the garage floor I wondered what bugger parked his landy in my garage, then I realised it is my bakkie's oil ....IR_Eddie wrote:Good thing you don't drive a landy - you would have had a heart attack by now.

Re: Safe to drive with this..?
Daai is engine olie Fanus, as jou ratkas olie so swart was het jy groter probleme as n crank seel wat lek.
