Re: Auto locking hubs.......HELP Please!!!!!
If you take it off you will have to seal the area well so that dirt doesn'tget into your wheel bearings.
Try David Volschenk, he may have some second-hand ones.
Otherwise Andre (Stefaansie on this forum) also has a broken one, perhaps the broken parts are not the same part and you can make one from two?

Re: Auto locking hubs.......HELP Please!!!!!
Dagsê manne,
I have indeed replaced both the Auto-locking hubs on my Trol,
I have a GQ '96 and it has the same hubs as the newer models, although that's what I thought.
When I removed the 6 bolts, only half of the hub came off, the rest of the insides was held onto the shaft with a snap ring. So I had to remove that as well.
I tested them this past Friday at Chimes(mine dumps) and came to realize that the Auto setting doesn't work, but when I lock them they work beautifully.
So, next step will be to clean them out properly and re-grease. And go test again...
Ink, gee my n PM, dan praat ons oor die parte wat jy nodig het.

Re: Auto locking hubs.......HELP Please!!!!!
This phenomena can also be caused by wrong ATF in transfer case. If the viscosity is higher than the specced ATF, then a small amount of 'drive' is transferred to the front prop which in turn tries to engage the hubs when in 'auto'

Re: Auto locking hubs.......HELP Please!!!!!
This is true about wrong ATF or Gear Oil,...depending on which one you decided to use according to age of Patrol.
However,... i believe most of the "Ghost" engaging of front hubs is due to old and/or cold grease issues.

Re: Auto locking hubs.......HELP Please!!!!!
My suggestion is to change those auto hubs to the manual ones at the first sign of trouble.
I have had endless trouble and malfunctioning front diff issues. Tried to repair it a few times and eventually just bought the manual replacements.
The units I bought from Commercial auto are still working perfectly.
When doing the more extreme trails , it is a lot safer to know your machine is working properly!
