Morning Guys,

I have put together this comparison graph as an update to the previous one after making a few changes. It would be interesting to know how the numbers look like from other 4.2l petrol Patrol's that was on a dyno recently.

Run 1 = After installing the OTA air filter no tuning yet.
Run 2 = Power tuned with OTA installed.
Run 3 = Petronix electronic ignition installed and new ignition coil (Bosch).

The rotor/cap and HT leads were replaced in February so they are in good conditions.

Here are the curves my car acheived at the Dyno Day arranged by Uncle Mac some time ago, at SAC in Centurion:

Unfortunately I suspect these are meaningless, since these figures are at the wheel and not corrected for altitude, while I guess yours are corrected for altitude and friction.
For any meaningfull comparison these would probably have to be measured on the same dyno, on the same day and by the same operator.

Also, I beleive that at the time my vacuum advance wasn't working and this is also before the snorkel and electronic ignition.

Dis nou amper n jaar sedert die laaste post oor jou weber carb.
Werk alles nog goed, en hoe lyk die petrol verbruik, veral , eers op die oop pad, en ook belangrik, in 4x4 toestande ?

Hi Mike,

I'm still very happy with the weber carb and trouble free from installation. Regarding the fuel consumption, average is for town/open road/off road is 4.6km/l. Keep in mind the roofrack with spots/mud tires/lifted suspension. It was just serviced last week and the latest dyno results were power 118kW@4000rpm and 302Nm@3000rpm torque, they converted the numbers to the flywheel.

Hi Rudolph, hoop dit gaan klopdisselboom daar, watse size tires hardloop jy op jou lorrie en watter fabrikaat is hul en hoe lank het jy hul al, sal jy hul weer koop?

Hi Jules, die disselboom klop nog aan die kant lekker. Ek het 32" Maxxi Bighorns op met 15" rims. Ek gebruik nie my lorrie vir alledaagse gebruik nie so die bande hou ek baie van veral offroad. Hulle het lekker grip offroad. Ek sal verseker hulle weer koop. Het hulle nou al meer as 2 jaar op die lorrie.

Vir interessantheid, my ("nuwe") Patrol 4.2 sgl met 'n Weber 38 gee tans 5.1 km/l.

'n Vraag - ek het gehoor dat 'n Weber moeilikheid gee as ens 'n steil bult moet klim? Iemand ondervinding daarvan?

Hy leef nog [en BenHur weet waar hy is]

as ek vergasser op watewwer het sal slegs selfs alleenlik Oom Albert aan hom werk en stel..

ja ek het dit ondervind, maar met die hulp van my pa (wat van melee se dae weber 38's tjoon) ....float levels bietjie gestel ens nog nie weer probleme gehad nie

float level op die carb vir offroad doeleindes is natuurlik anders as vir street racing, so jou carb kort dalk bietjie aandag
