Well if you don't want a pick-up then I have only one argument left for you:

You should always have 1 more vehicle in the household than the registered number of drivers. This is a good rule and one I try to live by. You never know when one of the vehicles needs to have something repaired/modified and then either you or your wife will be stuck without a vehicle. Two drivers, two vehicles plus one back-up.

Now in my case, the back up usually ends up being some kind of toy (like a motorbike or one day if I can afford it an older model SWB with oversized wheels and engine) but it still counts. :woo:
May the road be long.. and dirty.

Bring the new Patrol home, put it in the driveway with a big red bow on it & when your wife sees it wish her happy anniversary/birthday/christmas...

Just make sure the spare keys are kept safely in your pocket.

This is OT, but there was once an American interviewed by an Englishman.
Die American said that they like their woman warm and their beer cold.
But in England they like it the other way around.

I would argue the perceived and actual safety advantage of the Patrol.

perceived: Due to its size and elevated seating position it FEELS safer

actual: Even so that the Patrol "only" receives a 3 star safety rating I would regard this vehicle as a much safer vehicle compared to an i10 / smaller vehicle with 1/2 the vehicle weight which might have a 4 or 5 star rating.
Crashing against a solid obstetrical or a rollover a Patrol might perform less ideal. compared" to a 5 star rated vehicle. However in an "car on car" accident (which should be the majority of accidents) the Patrol will outperform any lower weight small car; to the extend that you might experience 4 x the deceleration force in the small car compared to the forces experienced by the Patrol occupants...... just because of the weight advantage of the Patrol.......

the heavier.... the safer :salute:
