Was the TD27 not always turbocharged? I was under the impression it only came out as a turbo charged motor

Tinus, the correct term would be Blueprinting the engine. This process takes each component or part to a specification. The engine is already balanced.

Well I can guarantee you that the engine is not nearly balanced as it should be. For that matter not one engine built by any manufacturer is balanced perfectly.
I balance most of the engines I build these days and have found deviations of 10g between pistons and 60g on some conrods.
The thing that is the worst is the flywheel sometimes.
Balancing an engine is really worth the money

Were the 2.7 SANI like Davids N/A?.... Which vehicles had a N/A TD27?..... sorry I am confused, cause my Patrol has Td27 pistons in, and that was on recommendation from Frans. They are Alfin pistons with Keystone rings for the TD27.

Cedric have a look at the T after the td27t those have the keystone rings and the inserts . The top piston is the real one that has the more holes ect for oil irrigation and comes in the td42t truck and bakkie motors. I have a set of those turbo td27t in my motor and they work

I found a set of pistons that have caught my interest for a td27t, they are shorter than the normal td27 and td42

better lighter or not, at least they both have the cooling gallery?

TD27t not sure about the shorter skirt and pattern on the top, but they are anodized on top

td42 the skirts are considerably longer and the design on top is different

any comments from the experts??
