This green one is going to be up for sale shortly, I am replacing it with the 4.2 TDI if anyone is interested :confused:

Hi Bosveld, no did not turbo charge it, I was referring to my other Patrol the 4.2 TDI I got from David

Alex, you are so bloody right!! seems like everybody that buys a Patrol off me gets a great deal except me :confused: However with this 4.5 it has cost me about R110000.00 I would let it go for that or if people want it cheaper then just start taking things off, Roof Rack, winch ect ect. OR just keep it for myself :lol: it is a lovely patrol in excellent condition, but just working out too expensive for my son to run. He drives at about 10km hour for up to 6 hours a day doing his monitoring work and even at those speeds it still has a drinking problem :rolling:

Ricster, as can be seen from above he has the green one but just killing him fuel wise! So dad nailed again and he will start using the white tdi

Already tried that one, said to him he can use the Suzuki SJ410 Jeep!! he said "rhino big, Suzuki small" :rolling: :rolling: and golf cart even smaller :surprised: :confused:

But TD42 don't like to idle for long periods of time. They need to pound the pistons and rings otherwise you will get carbon buildup and possibly even glaze the sleeves.

He needs an old landy 4 cyl diesel will be cheap to run and repair if the sleeves glaze over.

Ian, this is what your son needs:

A friend and I built it about 25 years ago. Agt the time, we were using a Ford F100 on the farm, and it had an even worse drinking problem than your Patrol. About 2km/l.

We built this for R5k. Beetle floor, old Combi gearbox (with built-in portal axles), modified Beetle from suspension and a second-hand Nissan 1400 engine.

This thing frequently made very serious 4x4's look rather stupid. And it would run for a week on 25l of juice!

Peter ...that is a very cool machine !!! Cut a sunroof into the tarp and you can stand up for height advantage to spot birds and animals :thumbup: :thumbup:
