Hm. Well, maybe you should come by sometime and see for yourself.

I can only say that I speak from experience. It turned one engine into a low compression version for me. Never again. Period.

I agree 100% from experience. The filter on the RGM conversion on The Firetruck has and is about to cost me in excess of R 50 k after it worked loose and sent gravel through the turbo, intercooler and motor....

David, if I may ask

Did you have the conversion done, or did you buy the vehicle with their conversion?f
I think one needs to be reasonable and not ascribe to malice that which is neglect.

If I fail to notice my radiator leaking water and lose the engine as a result, would it be rational to blame the service center I last used?

And then, my next question would be, who did the maintenance and services on the vehicle subsequent to the conversion?

If it was RGM I believe you have a valid gripe, if not I dont believe you can justifiably ascribe to them, something they haven't seen for years.

I own a few vehicles and they service and maintain most of them.

In my experience they are completely thorough.

And I believe, without the relevant facts at my disposal, that had they serviced your vehicle, this issue would have been picked up way before any damage occurred.

That they did a conversion, that someone else has seen fit to maintain, that is your port of call, Not RGM.

Geez, David. I had no idea this happened. Good luck. Let me know if I can help in any way....

I concur completely with what Biggels has said..
The argument around Turbo’s having come a long way is entirely academic when you don’t have the OE management Systems to go with it.
In bolt on format, and chip tuning to control everything, I don’t believe you will get the same usable reliable spread of power from a Turbo unit.
But this is based on my personal experience with both and a laymans understanding of how power is delivered.
Through fueling/timing you can to some degree eliminate most of the Turbo lag, but tuning set-up is arduous and consistency of performance lacking with after-market Turbo fitment.
To get an aftermarket twin turbo fitment working like a modern car is going to end up costing more than a Super-charger and the probabilities for stuff going wrong exponential.
Were I offered both options, with all the after-market back-up and warranties available, on this particular vehicle I would go Super-charged hands down every time.

Would love to see the graphs.

If its good at the bottom there will be no top and visa versa.

The graphs will prove me right or wrong.

Figures are very similar to Super charged route although the SC runs 0.3 boost.

Mine must be a little tired then. There is no ways I will ever be able to see that kind of speed with mine, let alone happily cruise at that speed.
Mine is unhappy even cruising at 140!

Man, it sounds like a supercharged 4.8 would be my ultimate, dream patrol to own. It sounds absolutely fantastic! Congratulations. Im going to start to save up now.

My 4.8 is a 2004 with 260k on the clock, suspension lift, 33" tyres, roofrack, replacement bumper, drawer system etc. etc.

So I recon all of this plays its roll in my top end figure...

My highest recorded gps top speed on a long straight slightly downhill rd in the Northern Cape was 192km/h

I normally cruise between 120 - 140 (110 with the wife inthe car)
