Niks gebeur as ek dit nie self doen nie maar my Pa staan my wel baie by, veral met goed soos brackets.

So this is going to be a very long and picture heavy one. To lazy or busy to read: look at the photos. Slow internet: feel free to read

So my last full post was wile I was getting ready for December trip: We did the West coast, starting in the Tankwa Karoo, did the Old Post route through the karretjies pass into Biedouw valley and from there to Lambertsbaai and up to the Richtersveld. Weather was awesome up to Augrabies where we cooked slowly for a day and just decided to pack up and go home (Partly due to the heat, mostly due to a broken Hilux) But the Patrol also had issues I have to admit...because I fiddled with things as Oom Boegmand would put it.

So first off let me tell you about Modifications: It never ends. One is not simply finished with a project such as this. I think it might be worth it at the end but it really is a lot of work. Personally I can not handle it having other people work on my car. I have not had a single thing done by someone else that I have not been upset about at one point. I just prefer to do everything myself, so if it goes badly it is my fault and I know what is going on in my vehicle and how to fix it.

Still busy writhing the rest and will follow in different posts. Just struggling with a stupid phone and photo transfers.

That is really very good Tijmen. I think fridge access would be a challenge for anyone an average height or less :rolling: maar jy's lank so dis nie n issue nie

how did you get the barn door to open so wide?

Thank you.

I cut the hinge pivot point off and only moved them 10mm outward. When it is open it doubles that distance and clears the lights.

So first I will rewind to before Desember. I was trying to prepare for our West Coast trip but time was running out.

Firstly I made a Dash Pod for the Madman and Boost guage.

Now after December I found that a painted box is not a good idea because the heat that it receives from being directly in the sun the Madman’s LCD screen darkens completely. At times I had to switch the aircon to the windscreen vent to cool it down. Will probably cover it in acoustic carpet soon. But other than that the doublesided tape held and it worked quite well.

So I took one of my seats out to put my fridge in a position that I can reach from the front seat.
And so the next problem was the lid, so I put a Gemar cabinet gas strut on for R15

I also built a base, mounted the fridge and battery and did some last minute messy wiring to get everything working for the Rust de Winter trip.

On last years river trip I somehow managed to break one of my rear windows. So that forced me to start the gullwing build. Had a lot of trouble to figure uout how to make one that does not require welding or drilling on the body. The biggest issue was the hinges kept binding in the corners and I couldn’t find a suitable hinge so I found a 7 point hinge design on the internet and changed it to suit my needs and had it lazercut, It works but still have to minimize some play on the joints and add gas struts.

I also found some fan belts at BMG that fits the TD42 and was just over R100.
OEM over R900 :surprised:
