Ek sien al hoe meer Shorty Pajeroes and Gelandewagens raak. Duidelik verstaan Mitsubishi.

Re: My Shortie Thread
Alex, ek dink hy gaan mooi loop.

Re: My Shortie Thread
Net reg!

Re: My Shortie Thread
So the story continues:
Graham had spent on-nd-off 9 working days on the car.
Most appointments are scheduled for a day or two, in-and-out.
So I could not really expect Graham to stop all other appointments.
This Job therefore had to serve as a filler of times in between the others.
Yet a heck of a lot was done in these two weeks.
This thread will just feature some of the salient points.
Most of the work done is not visible to the eye, at least not before opening the bonnet.
The first priority was to get the old TB42 back to being the reliable old beast it was designed to be. After 293,000 km, 23 years, and a lot of apparent neglect and bad historical mechanic work, there was a lot to be done.
While waiting for the appointment at G-Tech I did the following:
1) Replaced water overflow that had a big hole in it.
2) Re-gassed the aircon (still working after two weeks, so hopefully no leaks)
3) Replaced some of the vacuum pipes on the carburator that was leaking petrol (not cool, besides being very dangerous, a vacuum pipe is really not supposed to take petrol in)
4) Replaced the baby 7jj 15" rims with some really cool rims that Tinus sold, together with 33" BFGs. So street creds are up, even though the suspension made it look like a short wheel based limo.
Once at Graham, the extent of the neglect on the engine became apparent.
It was only firing on 5 cylinders.
But looking at the causes of this, it was a small miracle I was able to drive the car at all, and that as many a 5 cylinders were actually working.
I will post seem pics of what had been replaced, some pics of fittings and other items that was in a terrible state, and then the before and after engine humming clips!

Re: My Shortie Thread
I have already posted pics of the head after being skimmed, so will not repeat it here.
The state of the valve springs were so bad the Graham does not know how the car was able to fire on as many as 5 cylinders.
For the thermostat housing, a new one could not be sourced, but fortunately, Piet still l had his from his old TB42.
That, as well as a funny shaped pipe (looks a like a Questionmark) I also got from him.
