My Temporary Trol - 1998 4500i
I traded this in on a Cruiser EFI a month or so back. Did'nt really drive the car, it had a sort of stutter when I drove it back from Meyerton, and that made me somewhat gatvol.
Anyway - I advertised it on Gomboom a week or so back, and a CT buyer actually called me on the 1st day, wanting to actually PAY me. I told him no, I need to sort that ruk en pluk uit first.
I sold my LC V6 DC, and delivered it on Monday. I sommer went up with the Trol and stopped at Graham at GTech. He sorted the problem out in 15 minutes - it was a dirty MAF sensor, and he re-adjusted timing, etc etc. The car was unfortunately chipped at a supplier, that's where the stuttering came from.
Graham also incidentally knew this car, and showed me quite some extensive maintenance work done on it by the previous owner.
I cannot sell the car till after December, having unexpectedly sold the LC DC. The boys and I are going on our annual Roof of Africa trip in 2 weeks' time, and I need this also for the boat to Qwantani, etc etc.
So - this is NOT for sale for now, although the pics show that.
Its a 1998 model, 199000 km, interior is in mint nick. Body work is OK. I really just HATE those mags, wish I could get some OE ones.
Car goes great, gave me 5.8 km/litre on my way back from GP. Sounds nice and healthy. It does have a bit of rattles inside, but it's the back seat's recline that is a bit worn out.
VERY nice car - to be honest, I have forgotten about the Patrol, after having owned a new one in 1994 (SGL).
So yes......I'm actually "forced" to keep this, at least for the rest of the year, and I am VERY impressed with it. And this is coming from a die-hard LC fan.

I would consider swapping my OE rims with the once which you don't like.
I send you a pm.

Yes, Graham knows his stuff.petri oosthuizen wrote:... I sommer went up with the Trol and stopped at Graham at GTech. He sorted the problem out in 15 minutes - it was a dirty MAF sensor...
Often cars come out of his service with more oemf.
Yes, you sound like a Patrol puritan given you want OE mags, and that coming from a 'die-hard' LC fan!petri oosthuizen wrote:...I really just HATE those mags, wish I could get some OE ones....

Re: My Temporary Trol - 1998 4500i
Well..........what can I say.
What a damn nice car!!!!!!!
Played around with it over the weekend, everything works 100%, the car really felt unstoppable and actually too "easy" in the rough stuff.
I particularly LOVE the suspension, short overhangs, and just the overall ease of use in offroad work.
The lack of front locker is basically offset by that damn amazing suspension, definitely better than a similar model Cruiser (the 1998 105 - I'm comparing apples with apples here).
I have a VERY bad spot of sinkplaat pad on my way to my home, like in even a Cruiser 200 goois gat there. This 16 year old Trol went around that bend as if on rails.........I checked it maybe ten times.
