It seems that the 4.2TD wagon use a 3.9 diff ratio and the 4.2 GU wagon(and pickup I suppose) use a 4.1 ratio.Russ Kellermann wrote:The size of the diff doesnt affect the ratio's within. However, as per my earlier post, it is definite that the pickup uses the H260 full floater rear diff and runs 4.111 gears. The rear diff on the wagon may well be the H233 , and as i stated, i predict it to be 3.9 gears.
Micheal, i will investigate and post pics of how to work out your original dif and gearing. Will post tomorrow.
The 4.2td pickup also use a 4.1 ratio.
If this info is correct, then Michael's would also use a 4.111 ratio diff.
"Factory Nissan Patrol Ratios:
GQ 2.8 Diesel = 4.625:1
GQ 3.0 Petrol = 4.11:1
GQ 4.2 Petrol auto = 3.9:1
GQ 4.2 Petrol manual = 4.11:1 or 3.9:1
GQ 4.2 Diesel = 4.11:1
GU 2.8 Diesel = 4.625:1
GU 3.0 Turbo diesel auto = 4.375:1
GU 3.0 Turbo diesel manual= 4.11:1
GU 4.2 Diesel = 4.11:1
GU 4.2 Turbo diesel (wagon) = 3.9:1
GU 4.2 Turbo diesel (ute) = 4.11:1
GU 4.5 Petrol = 4.11:1

Re: Tinus se 4.2TD bakkie!!
Well Alex Botha was at my place yesterday and I took him for a spin in my Patrol. Needless to say Tinus was also there so we immediately settled on a dice. I must say Tinus's bakkie pulls very strongPeter Connan wrote:It pains me to say this, but this bakkie makes my GQ look like it's looking for parking...

Beskuie....ha ha dis n goeie woord daai
I really want to know how much Tinus's bakkie weigh as compared to my wagon. I recon weight is a bigger factor than power.

In formula 1 they spend millions to shed kilograms of weight.
Weight is always the prime factor. Power to weight ratio is where it matters.
