Christo,
Assume water trap with warning indicator is also on the list or was this already fitted and failed this test?

Re: Chuck Norris is in ICU
Nope - standard equipment on the 4.2 GL and it was working as intended (showing water in the diesel) when the motor died. The problem is that it is impossible to drive in peak hour traffic with your eyes glued to the dashboard, so I did not see the light it until the engine started losing power...Bruin Beer wrote:Assume water trap with warning indicator is also on the list or was this already fitted and failed this test?

When I did my conversion, I also had to get my tanks taken out and cleaned.
In my case this was obviously important since I converted from one fuel type to another.
In your case I assume this will not be necessary.
However while you are busy with such deep intervening surgery, it may be a good idea to do this too.
I do not know what rubbish my previous owner allowed into my tank, but there was a lot of black thick mesh drifting inside.
It may a combinaiton of non-clean diesel, mixed with other stuff, and what time does to it...

'Lexi .. that black &*^&#$ nasty stuff floating about in yer tank .. I had it in Brutus' tank and it turned out to Willaim Penn's Valve Ease [the stuff with the graphite that by claim clkeans the valves & injectors .. ALL that graphite just hangs around in teh tank and f*&*^&%# up everyting in the fuel lines.
Stay away from the graphite bearing "valve cleaner" stuff -- Petrol OR diesel engines.
Just the old school 2-stroke oil in the tank .. a cupful per 500 Km

Re: Chuck Norris is in ICU
I have not added anything to my fuel ever.
So that stuff was the doing of the previous owner.
But at least now I know how it came about
