I read 28pages of threads and lots and lots of posts on the Aus Patrol forum this weekend on the CRD motors. Well I can tell you that the changes made in '07 made all the difference. Guys are driving std and modified CRD's with 200-300 000k's without problems theres a few over 300000k's still going. Yes their is breakages reported but none of the tipical hand granade failures. They are also few and far between.

The new commonrail electronic diesel injection with new ECU was a game changer. Boost is much better controled. Guys run 3" freeflows with Dastec and chip it chips with great success and they make good power with low EGT's. Boost running at 1.5 bar Controled. No spikes. Some guys run with daws valves and some without. All and all I was very impressed. :salute:

If anyone is having trouble with the link you can pm me with your email adress and I will gladly mail you the pdf.

So would this one be the newer CRD?

If so, I must say the Dark Side is tempting...

The model sounds right. But to be sure you can open the bonnet and see this:

Then its the CRD.

If you see this:

Then its the old one.

With a properly tuned unichip youlle be making more power than your 4.5 plus youll be saving at the pump. The darkside is better than you think

This is Dyno results from a CRD patrol. Dyno and unichip was done by boksburg SAC. This is on the wheels. Not flywheel. And 33" KM2 MUDS.
