1999 patrol gl
Hi guys,I am currently looking to buy a patrol 1999 model, this particular model was advertised as a grx. I have just driven a 2001 grx on Saturday and could not figure out why the pics of the 99 model dashboard looked so different to the grx and on closer inspection of extra photos I picked up on the rear doors that it in fact was a gl not a grx which explains the differences . Nevertheless I am still interested in the vehicle, is there anything in particular I should be looking for on a 99 gl patrol?

Re: 1999 patrol gl
I take it that the GRX.....now GL... is the 45 petrol? I say this cause the 1999 4.2 diesel only came out in a GL...( unfortunately ).... I'd love it if mine was the GRX
The vehicle is virtually the same, only cosmetic differences.... sunroof being the main difference, and I think the standard fitted sub tank, with dual fuel gauge. The rest I think was leather seats and aircon setup.
You will love the Patrol.....

Re: 1999 patrol gl
Also electric front seat control - which is overrated as the manually adjusted GLs can shift further back.
and climate control rather than just the aircon buttons.

Skilpad, Shortie, Toro & Masewa

Re: 1999 patrol gl
Hi Toyford
I have a 4.5GL 1998 model. Ricster said that if it is a Diesel, then it can only be a GL. If it is a petrol, it can be a GL or GRX.
Things to look out for is if the shock are still good and the condition of the clutch. Replacing the clutch is quite an expensive exercise on a Patrol. Also get some seat covers. Once the material on the seat is gone, it is gone. It is not as durable as the leather seats.
Thing I like about the GL is that there are very few electronic things that can fail in the middle of the bush.
Best of luck.
Marinus
