Max Ellery Nissan Patrol 1998-2009 Manual Special Offer

Post by cullendw »

Hi,

I managed to finally find an excellent Max Ellery workshop manual for my 2001 4.5l Patrol. This manual covers Patrol models from 1998 to 2009 and contains everything from changing the oil to rebuilding the transmission.

I found this gem from Motorbooks (http://www.motorbooks.co.za) which can be found at The Colony Centre in Craighall Park. I had a chat with Dewal Basson and he said that he would be happy to give a 10% discount if you belong to this forum. He can be contacted on 0861 113 947 / 083 441 3237

I have uploaded an image of the front cover

Cheers

Hi Daniel
It is very handy but I found that you need to be pretty advanced technician/mechanic to use it effectively - way above my level. For example, for engine and drivetrain repairs I found there was insufficient detail on how to get to the problem in the first place ie the step by step to remove and install something - it seems to focus on how to repair the item rather, once everything is dismantled.

Hi Chris,

After going through the more advanced sections in detail, I agree with your comment! (I am an amateur mechanic at best). I found the parts on maintenance and servicing detailed enough, but, as you mentioned, the more advanced stuff is lacking in detail

Worthwhile but lacking. Compared to my Haynes manual (for a differnt vehicle) I prefer the Haynes.
Also found a lack on detail for the 4.8. - Engine & gearbox wise it is ok but there is basically nothing when looking for the 4.8's handbrake which is basically a drum brake inside the rear disk brake.
I tend to make use of a combination of MaxEllery & electronic workshop manual when tackling any maintenance.
At least it is better than nothing

I have downloaded it sometime ago from the internet but can't remember exactly where
You can try: http://www.filestube.com/e9e8f5ffb04d4b ... l-Y61.html - It is about 140 MB
If it doesn't work I can put it on a CD and mail it to you :salute:

I have the Max Ellery and i love it, but i do agree that Haynes manuel has slightly more detail on pulling/fitting parts. Still, amazing book and well worth the purchase.
