Gents,
It is not about Afrikaans or English. It is about offering everybody the chance to add value to this club/forum. By using English we are then able to communicate GLOBALY and not just locally.
Remember the past, but lets change the future.

Hello Grant
I must apologise for being one of the offendors here, and I agree with you regarding the logical reason for this rule.
However in my defence, there are times when I just struggle to express myself properly in English. I generally try very hard to keep to English where I beleive that what I am saying may be of interest to people other than who I am specifically replying to, to the point that I often discover half-way through composing a long message that I am speaking Afrikaans and then delete it and start from scratch. However when I am replying to a thread that has already turned into Afrikaans I will continue speaking in afrikaans, for two reasons: 1) Guys who are still following either can speak Afrikaans or are prepared to use one of the translators on Google, and 2) the person I am replying to is obviously more comfortable in Afrikaans, and my reply is mostly aimed at him.
I know my attitude is not stricly correct, and for this I apologise, however I am after all a hardekop Boerseun (something I just can't translate into english properly).
If ever I say something in Afrikaans and somebody wants me to repeat it in English, he needs only to ask and I will try to translate it for him.
Peter

Re: Forum Rules
My 10 cents worth as a fairly new member. ( I am English speaking married to an Afrikaans Lady) My Afrikaans is pretty bad, and I would not like to write in a language that I am not comfortable with, so for the Afrikaans speakers, go with Afrikaans, if we Souties have a problem we can also ask for a translation!!!

Now how did a 'Hard Head Farmer Son' get a soutie name like 'Peter Connan' ??Peter Connan wrote:...I am after all a hardekop Boerseun (something I just can't translate into english properly)....
I am also a Boertjie but agree that the technical parts of the forum should rather be English to add value to a wider audience but social (local?) topics can be in the language of your choice. Obviously you are not going to get a response from everybody if you place your topic in Azerbaijani:
