Christo / Cedric / JP / Everyone:
I think the issue with the "Service Unavailable" messages should be fixed. Please let me know if it crops up again.

Re: Software Update Done
Another issue, raised by Tinus, where the "View Unread" and "View New" icons were permanently showing as red icons even when there were not new or unread posts has now also been addressed.

Re: Software Update Done
I've been asked to write a post describing what the changes are regarding the new forum.
In short: there are surprisingly few changes. Most significantly, we're running a new version of phpBB, which is great. The performance should be better, and the newer software solved a number of bugs present in the old version. Apart from that, the previous version of the forum was nearing end-of-life...
I've fixed a couple of bugs which have been around for a while, I believe (things like "Suspension and Steering" not showing up in Active Topics / similar).
Other than that, I've tried to keep the Forum as much like the old one as possible. The newer style looks a little better (I think), and also seems to render better on mobile devices (cell-phones and tablets).
Notifications work now (ie: you'll see the little "red" icons pop up occasionally in the navigation bar when you've been thanked / quoted and similar). Similarly, topics with new posts will display with "red" icons (as per the old forum), as will the icons for "Unread posts" or "New posts".
The newer version of the forum is also compatible with other third party things such as Tapatalk, for example. But I'm still investigating this. John and I will discuss this some time when I've finished researching the pros and cons and we'll make a call on it once we've decided whether it is a good call to make or not.
There may yet still be a gremlin that pops up, but I think I have solved most of the niggles in the meantime. If something does come up, please log it here and I'll address it as I have time.

Re: Software Update Done
just to let you know Ian, I got another " Error service unavailable "
Not sure when it happened but was between 13:29 and 14:14. I was idle on the forum main page.

Re: Software Update Done
I got one for the first time a few minutes ago, but I could just close it and carry on, so i'm not too bothered.
