Patrol 4.2 SGL - 1996 for sale

Post by Dolf » 25 Oct 2018 20:34

My 1996 Patrol 4.2 SGL with 167000 Km is for sale. The vehicle is standard with no modifications, has all seats for 7 persons and in very good condition. I bought it in 2010 with 117000 Km on the clock and covered all my tick list items and it did not let us down at any stage.

Attached a few photos and more will be available on request and any queries welcome.

Required price: R 80 000.00.

I may be interested in this vehicle..

But the pricing seems a little high, although the vehicle seems to be in good nick..

Anyone here have an opinion on what would be a reasonable price to offer the seller?

WIth that 'low' mileage, and good overall condition, I think that price is quite reasonable

That is a very acceptable price for such low km , I would even be prepared to pay more if I was looking for n 2nd GQ :woo:

I did a bit of a search..

These seldom achieve more than 65 k on the sale

You get 4.5 Petrols from 90 k and 4.8 GRX from 120 k

On this Forum there was one for sale a while ago with half the mileage

So for me personally I think this is a little on the high side.

No matter how good the condition may appear, something will require maintenance and one will spend money to get it from good to perfect.

What are the weak points around the SGL.. I find overheating mainly through compromised cooling systems.

Julian

The main problem with the GQ Patrols are the very old copper radiators. It is a major upgrade to install a alluminium radiator

Hi Michael
Do Tombo radiators have a suitable fit?
When you say major upgrade..
Do you mean a major job or major beneficial to do the change over?
And would the existing radiator shroud then fit?

Thanks in advance

Runs around 10 to 15 deg colder with the alluminium radiators
