My Patrol Pickup thread...

So, i finally got my Patrol pickup last week Sat.
Had to drop a vehicle of at my cousins house, in krugersdorp, got the patrol and drove back to the lowveld.
A 2008 patrol 4.2tdi, 200k km's. This vehicle is faster than the jimny i use to own, bonus.
The vehicle got some minor scratces, nothing serious. The rubberizing is not in perfect condition, but will do for now
It came out with a replacement rear bumper, which is a bonus. Tow bar, recovery points etc.
Normal wrap around bullbar on front - maybe one day i can get a replacement bumper for the front..
Then there is a canopy on the bakkie, which i want to sell and replace with cattle rails/canvas canopy.
The radio does not work, will have it checked out some time.
The interior is in very good condition. Would like to get seat covers though, as my little children can get the seats dirty very quickly.
On monday i re-registered the vehicke into my name. Road worthy was done by seller. New number plates made and fitted.
The tyres was badly worn, 265/70r16. Replaced them yesterday with 5x cooper st maxx 255/85r16's.
Originally i wanted bfg km2's, but could not get stock.
But so far i'm happy with fitting the st maxx's - very nice tyre. I would like to fit spacers on the rear wheels to widen the track a little bit.
Only thing i noticed on this vehicle, when in 2nd gear, 700-1000rpm, there is a growling/grinding sound, almost like a truck makes when gearing done, when accelerating sound dissapeares. Is this something worth having checked out? I read on other forums that it is not an uncommen occurance?
So far i am very happy with my purchase, it is a wonderfull feeling driving this vehicle.
I havent really taken pics of this bakkie, but will post some later.
Here is one with the new takkies fitted, more to follow.

Re: River Trip 6-10 August 2015 AKA Die Groot Trek

Is anyone aware of biodegradable toilet paper yet?
High time for such an invention.

http://www.sustainable.co.za/green-home-48-pack-unbleached-toilet-paper-1ply-eco-home.html

"After use, our product can be thrown into compost bins and will completely biodegrade into water, CO2 and healthy compost within a few weeks!

Green Home's unbleached paper is used to make toilet paper and serviettes.

Unbleached Toilet paper and Serviettes are chlorine free, FSC Certified (Made from pulp that complies with regulations for sustainable forest management), locally manufactured, 100% biodegradable, recyclable, and bulk packaged."

Hier is so paar van my muk-en-druk foto's...

Daar was n paar met standaard suspensie iirc.

Did anyone record/mapped the trip on a GPS?
Or at least save the co-ordinates for each camping spot, etc?
Would be interesting to see...

Re: Installing Turbo Boost Gauge & Madman EGT

Thanks Tony, i mailed Brian(madman) about this, here is his response:

"The kink could be a problem, however, the cables are well insulated so it is unlikely that they are touching inside.

The probe works by simply joining the two wires in the tip of the probe, so, if they are touching at the kink, the measuring point is now at the kink rather than in the tip.

To test this, fit the probe to the unit and power it up. Heat the tip with a lighter, it should go from ambient temp to a few hundred deg quickly.."

I will test it first :salute:
