Re: Extreme Death wobble

Re: stabilizer links

Alex, I would love to know how much the roof rack on your GU weighs. I suspect it is quite heavy.

Having said that, the GU is officially 200kg heavier than the GU, and all that weight is up top. And of course, the X-link on the GU also reduces the roll resistance of the front suspension...

Re: stabilizer links

As far as I am concerned, stabilizer is a misleading name for this item. It is correctly called an anti-roll bar. On a double live-axle vehicle, it has almost no effect on the vehicle's stability, but does reduces body roll a lot. My car has been running without anti-roll bars for several years now,...

Strengthening lower control arms

The rear suspension's lower control arms are probably the parts of the Patrol's suspension that are the most prone to damage. We have seen a number of these bend, probably due to bround contact, but when that happens they just fold up the next time they are loaded heavily... The easiest way to beef ...

Re: Led bar for sale

Ian, unfortunately they are still illegal, even if covered... The law is quite clear on that point, covers don't make lights legal that are otherwise illegal. Neither does special switches that ensure that they don't come on with the brights. As for light bars being illegal, well, to my mind this is...

Ian, thanks for your efforts. I quite like how one can upload multiple photos much faster with the new platform.

Re: Front Axle Lockers

Michael, the best way I can explain the function of these auto lockers is if you were to imagine that each wheel had a built-in bi-directional ratchet. In other words, if a wheel turns faster than the diff centre, that side-shaft (and only that sideshaft) disconnects. If the diff centre turns faster...

Re: My '98 GU 4.2 TD

I don't think it is either possible or desirable to "transfer the thread".

So you'll just have to buy the car back...

Sorry to hear about the issues, that's not cool.
