Re: 285's?

Gerrit I don't want to pick a fight here, but a buddy of mine recently managed 160 000 km on a set of BF A/T's? Anyway, all my info is on the older BF MT's, I don't know the KM2 at all. I have a friend who operates 3 Safari bakkies and a Patrol bakkie. His business is testing boreholes and therefore...

Re: 285's?

Hello PMC AT's last twice as long and they grip better on wet tar. However for shear grip off-road they can't be beaten. My feeling is that I would love to get an extra set of rims one day with muddies on, but for general use I have to stick to AT's. I think the manufacturer's guide WRT percentage o...

Re: 285's?

I went from 31"to 33" on my 1996 4.2, which is probably even more aneamic than your 4.2D. Unfortunately however the issue is clouded by the fact that I changed brand at the same time. I certainly have more traction under all circumstances, andI beleive the off-road performance is better under all co...

Re: TD42 OWNERS QUESTION

Thanks Pieter

My momma taught me never to open an engine without replacing the oil pump, and anyway my compression is a bit low and on the dyno the other day I noticed a bit of white smoke on lift-off. In other words, if I open it up, I am going to have to do a proper job of it.

Cheers

Re: TD42 OWNERS QUESTION

Pieter, Frans, I stand humbly corrected. Pieter can you add some detail WRT the installation: 1) Where is the oil cooler mounted? 2) How is it connected to the engine? 3) Where are you measuring oil temperature? 5) Did you use rubber hoses, or braided steel? 4) What did it all cost? As you have prob...

Re: Right front wheel hub getting hot

Hello David, guys

Remember that a lot of the heat in the hub is transferred from the brake disks. Thus driving around particularly in town can leave them very hot.

With regard to how difficult the hubs are to rotate, there may well be a torque figure in the manual?

Cheers

Re: Big Country bash plate

Izak dis reg so, ek het net 'n vergadering tussen 0900 en 11h00, so dit moet voor of na dit gebeur, en ek hoop dit reen nie.

Oom Mac, sal 'n plan maak.

Anybody else got any other requirements/improvements that won't push the price up too much?
Peter
