Re: TYRE WIDTH/TYPE VS FUEL CONSUMPTION

I went from 33x12.5 AT's to 32x11.5 Muddies to 265/70R16 HT's to 255/85R16 muddies.

No repeatable difference in fuel consumption, except in soft sand, where the narrow tyres have a noticeable advantage.

Re: My name is Danie Schoonwinkel and i am an addict.

Baie welkom Danie. Solid EN19 is onnodig. Jy kan natuurlik as jy wil, maar ASTM A106 pyp, as ek reg onthou 1.25" (maar dalk 1.125") Schedule 160 is wat die fabriek gebruik het. Dis meer as sterk genoeg, sonder om so sterk te wees dat jy die hub carriers breek as jy in 'n stomp vasry of op 'n klip ga...

Re: 18 to 20 May 2018 - Moegatle

I'm out. Murphy's got me by the short and curlies. I had hoped to start the engine on Saturday, but haven't managed to yet. Which means that i don't have enough time to run it in acceptably. And I was really looking forward to testing the longer shocks and shorter low range. Anybkdy feel like settin...

Re: My eerste van baie (Die Patrol)

Veels geluk.

Re: Installing manual hubs

I doubt the snap ring has anything to do with controlling the hub's engagement sleeve. This must retract when the hub is un-locked.

If i understand correctly, the snap-ring's purpose is to keep the Birfield joint centered?

Re: Patrol 3L Blown Turbo and Water Usage

Something nobody seems to have mentioned yet:

The ZD30 from the Hardbody is a different motor from the one in the Patrols. And the import motors are usually from a Hardbody.

Re: New to this forum- Need some advice please

I think R200k is on the upper limit of what I would be prepared to pay for a vehicle of this age and mileage, but it is very well kitted. Problem is, you will have to remove some of that for your stated purpose. I think 270k km is reasonable for a 14-year-old car. That's less than 20k km per year. A...
