Re: Buick patrol hybrid

Gaan jou TC posisie en kort prop so bly? Ek vra maar net oor ek so groot moeite met myne doen om alles perfek in lyn te kry met minste hoeke tussen mekaar.

Re: 35" BFG on 15" steel rims

If those rims were deeper offset, I would have been interested in two of them. I have same rims, but with a -40mm offset on the Sani. Also would have liked to get my hands on any old 35" tyre so I can do some measuring on the Sani to make space for them under the wheel arches.

Re: Patrol porn......

Test was done on 37" tires.. He only pulls the 40s out for offroading.... And these guys make me jealous with the places they get to ride...

Re: Alternator 101

Tell me about it... I really like the idea. With the cooling it is possible to get a whole lot more out of the alternator without the heat problems. Seems VW and BMW use it extensively, but at that price  Gees, I can buy about 10 alternators for my 2.7TD for R28K without shipping and impor...

Re: Alternator 101

Very nice write up, thanks... Anybody got any ideas where/who can supply water cooled alternators. I have seen a few offroaders do this conversion in Aussie, and the alternators seem to be nice high output units of around 120-190A. Main reason actually seems to save yourself the problem of water/mud...

Re: Trouble shifting from 4Hi to 2Hi

Cedric, must admit I had to giggle at that one too :rolling: ... But do you remember your Sani?. It was also a "hard connect". The lever would tell you exactly in what position your TC is in. I hope the old 1980 Safari TC is still like that. I prefer it that way. At least both my short levers will b...

Re: Trouble shifting from 4Hi to 2Hi

Thank you guys - Dankie manne. Cedric, mine is manual. Tinus' advice was simple, yet good. After going to the Neutral position on the 4WD gear lever, and shifting to 2WD after a pause in Neutral, it did the trick. The previous times I simply went straight from 4Hi to 2Hi, which did not disengage 4x...

Re: 35" tyres on a GU

That is my worry... I can still fix the problem with an angle grinder on the hangover bits, but the section between the wheels must stay as is. I can also still afford to lengthen my wheelbase if needs be. But would like to be planning these things now already.... So if anybody has an old 35 tyre, o...
