Re: manual gearbox idiosyncrasy
Hi, Apologies for the lack of response, things have been somewhat busy on this side (amazing how much time a new family takes from you). As Peter Mentioned, with regret, I have decided to sell the Patrol. Not because of the gearbox issue, but rather for practical purposes. I am not getting to do any...

Re: Patrol vs G-Wagen
This is a great thread! I almost replaced my landy with this : http://www.mb4x4.co.za/forum/showthread.php/907-My-Red-300GE. I test drove it and found that the engine felt underpowered (although I was use to a chunky 4 litre V8). I was really impressed with the technology it had for it's age (you co...

Re: manual gearbox idiosyncrasy
It happened again today while driving on a short trip and I did not even engage 5th gear. My formula did not work very well and I spent around 5 minutes trying to find reverse in a parking lot ... not ideal!

Re: Control Arm Bushes
OK, so I phoned the mechanic and he said that the parts department told him that you could only buy the complete unit. He sounded rather annoyed by this and apologized and is heading off to the parts department to sort this out. In short, you can replace the bushes separately!

Re: Control Arm Bushes
@Russ - I agree, I am seriously thankful to everyone on this forum since I consider myself a very amateur mechanic and as a result, I am an easy target for this sort of thing I phoned Nissan's Parts Department and found out some interesting information. Just to be clear on what part I was referring ...

Re: Control Arm Bushes
Haha, agreed. Thanks for confirming that (It is the front Control Arms b.t.w). I did not even check the Nissan Manual, but it did sound a bit weird that one has to replace the entire control arm because the bushes cannot be replaced separately!
