Re: Window rubber (LHS) - Nissan Patrol GL 1999

Lance, the guy you're looking for is actually called David Volschenk, or DEVOLSCHENK on the forum if you want to PM him. If that does not work, his ZA mobile phone number is (your international exit code, followed by) too seven ate three 4 double nine won 5 double ate. BTW, we're in CAT time, aka GM...

Re: seatbelt rewind

Good write-up here.

I've done the rewinding bit on a previous car - it takes a lot of focus and preferably extra set of hands...

Re: TD42 all of a sudden overheating

Cedric, I replaced the radiator hoses on Chuck earlier this year and paid about the same price.

The bugger is that they had no stock whatsoever in ZA, so I had to pay the full price up front and then wait another month for them to arrive from over the ocean...

Re: Radio Gremlins

PS: A final tip from Andries (the guru) - and something I was not aware of. Reception can be vastly improved by trimming the antenna to 1/4 wave lengths (ie: feed cable MOD antenna whip length = 0). Ian, be careful... the 1/4 and 5/8 wave antennas are structurally different! The 1/4 antenna we use ...

Re: Radio Gremlins

Ian, some reasoning behind disconnecting the window motor in the driver's door: 1. We know it has nothing to do with your ignition, since it also happens when the engine is not running. Forget about alternators, etc. 2. We also know that it has nothing to do with the antenna, because you have good r...

Re: Radio Gremlins

Weird one  I'd suggest that you disconnect the window motor in the right-hand door (whilst the window is closed!) to see if the problem persists. Easy enough to do by lifting up the console with the window buttons on it and disconnecting the plug underneath. If your problem is gone, buy a gen...

Re: Navstar 220 VHF

VHF is the way to go. Most clubs have moved or are moving to them. They use better FM technology that provides clear audio quality. The licensing is cheap - if you can afford a 4x4 and its fuel bills you can surely afford the R100 or so annual fee. BTW: licensing is one of the downsides of the impro...
