Re: Sourcing parts for an Oz spec Patrol

I feel your pain. My GQ VIN starts with WRGY60... no JN1 at the beginning or that other jazz. They can do a search through their system by model but sometimes there are 2 different parts listed for the GQs. Best explanation I got was in Aus, where they categorize GQs from '88 to '91 and '91 to '98/'...

Re: GQ HEADLIGHTS REPLACEMENT

Hi Jules,

Your are right Golf headlights fit in. 7" iirc. I replaced mine with Hellas. That made a difference but not HID type of light.

Re: Getting a diesel with malfunctioning electrics home

Hope it's ok to resurrect this thread, as it's a problem I've experienced directly related to my original post. It happened to me this morning, glowplugs warm-up, starter swings but the patrol doesn't start-up. After a couple of attempts, I realise the injector pump is not opening-up to allow fuel. ...

Re: Getting oil from the sump into the sumpie

!doh!

Thanks Wheels! I think that is part of the problem : "Make sure your sumpie can breathe. Open one of the other screw in breathers"

This time I left the filler cap on but Wheels' suggestion explains the big bubble that shot out the funnel.

Getting oil from the sump into the sumpie

I did the usual oil and oil filter change on Saturday and although this isn't the first time, it is not a very clean operation. Seems like 8 of the 10 litres of oil gushes out in the first few seconds, the little indent/catchment area in the sumpie would always overflow in 2 secs. This time i tried ...

Re: Y60 / GQ body parts

Hi marakasmalan,

Try ebay.com.au for the parts you are after. Here is an example:

Re: Stupid = Sweat, lots of Sweat.

@Russ: I feel your pain, as I've done the same too many times. Biggest worry would be doing that doer and gone on a west coast beach with no inclines.

@Mammoth: Thanks for the diagram!

Re: Filling from a Jerrycan?

Go the siphon route. It's less backbreaking than the spout/funnel route. You get a jiggler siphon nowadays which has a spring-loaded marble that will take care of the siphoning for you (after a quick shake or 3). Before refuelling from jerry cans (actually before I even open the jerry cans) I get th...

Re: Panhard Rod Bushes

Hi Herbie, The dealers will probably tell you that panhard rod and bushes is a complete kit. However you can get OEM bushes if you give them the part number. IIRC Ross' post in the library had the part numbers and it was around R600. For the casting of a new bush Riaan at SB&S can do that 082 78...

Re: My Patrol Warranty.....I'm nervous, please advise me.

The dealership chap said its definately every 15000km and i have that in an email from him! Thats your CYA... And if you get the following from him in writing you should be fine: asked him and his answer was this: The two services defaulted are small filter changes, and, that the gearbox etc would ...
