Re: Water Leak

What pressure is the cap set for? Normally Nissan's is 0.9 bar, but my Nissan Trained Mechanic says the Patrol requires a 1.1 bar cap. Just also check on that the cap has two rubber seals. The lower one (as the cap sits on the radiator) is smaller and seals the radiator until it reaches the point wh...

Re: '95 SFA Hilux 2.4

It is very nice and will go for a very good price. It does however have two very serious drawbacks 1. It will use more fuel than a 4.8 Patrol (tongue in cheek, but those motors are very thirsty and are therefore HEAVY on Fuel!!) 2. And the real concern, if it gets even a small bump, the insurance wi...

Re: Botswana / Zimbabwe safari fuel consumption

I was hoping for around 12 to 13lt per 100 at around 100kph, so I was reasonably happy with what I got. On the trip home, I travelled a bit faster and paid for it in extra fuel. That was not really a concern, as I was trying out the higher speed to see how it would affect the consumption. This is my...

Botswana / Zimbabwe safari fuel consumption

I have just returned from a 10 day safari with my wife and two American tourists, who happen to be friends, not paying customers. We left here on Sunday 24th June and went via Khama Rhino Sanctuary, Francistown, Pandamatenga, Hwange National Park, Victoria Falls, Chobe (Kasane) and back home via Fra...

Re: Bonnet shocks

In Jhb, McNaughtans, corner Von Willigh Ext, under the M2 highway. They go for about R120 each. Comes in various lenghts from about 180mm to 1m. My 1.0m one pumped up to 0.25 bar cost me about R139 about 2 years ago. Cheapest prices, some people will rip you off, mostly the spares shops!! http://mcn...

2013 year model, should this not have the CRDi engine rather than the Di like my 2008 model has?

Re: Installing manual hubs

I did the same mod with my GQ Patrol about 7 or 8 years ago. Commercial Auto Spares who I bought the manual hub locks from for about R750 for a set for my Terrano, did not have the HLs for the Patrol and I eventually found an engineering works in Langlaagte who imported them for the Patrols from Bra...

Re: Bio Diesel.... The Iron Maiden is going Green !!!

Maybe I should try it in both the Patrol and the Pathfinder when I get back from Botswana in early July.

Re: TYRE WIDTH/TYPE VS FUEL CONSUMPTION

The OP compared 285/70 x 17 with 305/65 x 17 when comparing the two, the OD size for each size is: 305/65 - 828.30mm or 32.61" 285/70 - 830.80mm or 32.71" So the size is very similar, the 285/70 is 2,5mm (or 1/10th on an inch) taller than the 305/65. I bet you if you fit new tyres, after just 5000km...

Re: Patrol Spotting

I saw a seemingly spotless Maroon and Gold GQ diesel in Houghton around 11h30 this morning.

Does anyone know whose vehicle that may be?
