Re: Patrol 4.8 Starter

A quick update. Putting the starter back was even easier. The steps I followed were as follows: 1. I held the starter in place from the bottom with my right hand while screwing in the bottom bolt. This was just tight enough so it is mostly flush at the top as well. I gave it a few turns with the sp...

Re: Odometer display going wonky

Cedric,

This looks more like a dry joint. But may have been caused by corroded tracks, as pointed out by Anthony. Pull the cluster, and resolder, and it should be fine. I hope.

Keep us posted.

Edit: I mean, the symptoms are dry joint. The reason for that might be the corrosion of the tracks.

Re: 4.5 GU Jump Seats Available

Apologies. Wayside contacted me this morning. The previous owner of his Patrol forgot to give him the set of jump seats, and still has them, so he has collected the original set of seats. In short, this means that my set of 4.5 jump seats, along with plastic trim and the "locks" which fit into the f...

Re: Mad Man Coolant Level Detector Install

I recently had a water pipe burst. By the time I noticed steam coming from the burst pipe, and noticed that my engine temperature was rapdily increasing, my overflow tank was already empty. If I had been on the highway, I may not have noticed the steam, and if I had not been watching temperarures, I...

Re: Patrol 4.8 Starter

Removing the starter on a manual 4.5 is a breeze. 10 minute job - if it even takes that long, and that extension is not required. It is the 4.8 which gave me grey hairs the other day., and for which my extension seems to be just, just too long.... I eventually got the top bolt loose from underneath ...

Re: Patrol 4.8 Starter

Total length of the extension is 12.5 cm. I measured it so I can buy my own for the same reason. My neighbour was kind enough to lend me a selection of his favourite extensions. Weird. My extension is 12.5cm on the dot. But seems to be just too long to fit. Did you remove the top bolt from the top ...

Mad Man Coolant Level Detector Install

Following the burst water pipe on the 4.5 recently, I opted to get a coolant level detector for the 4.5. However, I was stupid. I should have ordered two, as I would like to install one on the 4.8 too.... Ordered the Mad Man CLD2 from Performance Products. https://www.performanceproducts.co.za/senso...

Re: Patrol 4.8 Starter

I was a bit apprehensive in tackling this task as I've read it is a bit of a pain to get out, but fortunately it was a quick 15 minute job. 20190113 Nissan Patrol 4.8 Starter motor and solenoid.jpg The little extension did the trick. The wrench and extension just needed to loosen the bolt so the sp...
