Re: Front runner wind deflector

Someone was kind enough to donate a Frontrunner wind deflector.

Problem solved!

4x4Megaworld in Edenvale also generously offered me a wind deflector, no cost. Apparently they have a whole pile of them. But this one was quite a bit closer.

Re: 4.8 Service

Between the two diffs I used all 10l of oil so it sounds about right, but I am sure I got about 2.5l in the transfer case. Perhaps someone else can confirm.

Re: Installing manual hubs

You say you installed them as is and the still going fine Yup, no problems so far. I turn it to lock and it engages easily, I unlock and it releases without any problems. Just don't drop the blasted hub. I popped one off the other day to tighten the wheel bearing and scratched it ever so slightly o...

Re: 4.8 Service

Jacques, make a dipstick to check the oil level and quality, http://patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=5893&p=68418&hilit=dipstick#p68418 I made mine with a piece of irrigation pipe. At the top I made a ring from insulation tape to indicate how far the dipstick must go into the filler / dipstick h...

Re: 4.8 Service

For the gearbox, if you plan on flushing it you might need a bit more than 11l. If you're just changing the oil by draining the oil pan you'll need about 5l as the rest stays in the torque converter. If your gearbox oil has been done recently the 5l change might be sufficient. I changed my gearbox 5...
