Re: TD42 waterpump gasket

Cedric, yes a normal valemoid will be fine. The aftermarket gasket sets only have valemoid gaskits. I prefer giving those ones a very very thin layer of gaskit maker on both sides to make sure they dont leak as they are not really as good as the Nissan graphite ones, but do the job. Just catch up an...

Re: Narrow or wide

Im not going to hide the fact that I prefer fat tyres and they have served me well to date. Did the whole Botswana in March and even towed a v...

Re: Nissan Thermostat

Nope, looks good. The old one is a non Nissan thermostat I have completely removed mine. Will this cause any major problems? If so where is best (cheapest) place to get a new one? Nissan Patrol Petrol 1998, 4.5 GRX Yes, removing the thermostat entirely can cause the waterpump to cavitate. There nee...

Re: 4.8L Performance upgrade options

Oh yes, did a pre dyno on a NA 4.5 and it only produces 88kw and 250Nm on the wheels. Its not in tip top shape, but gives a good idea on how the peteol engine is so different from the diesel engine on the power curve

Re: 4.8L Performance upgrade options

All are TD42 turbo motors, they just made a mistake on the one dyno sheet stating its a 4.5 Julian, the one producing 180kw is a true reading. Its a very powerfull beast and has severely modified everything. The quick dropoff in power is because of the governer that was set to 3,800rpm initially so ...

Re: 4.8L Performance upgrade options

Ok so here are a cpuple of dyno runs from verious TD42's. All were done in 4th gear. I think all have a pre and post run. The reason why I am not sure how they get their torque figure is because comparing two vehicles, the one makes 110kw and 350Nm at one stage where another makes 120kw and 557Nm......

Re: 4.8L Performance upgrade options

Julian, look Im not sure how their dyno works or calculate the torque, but have not found one Patrol producing the same graph as the next.

Will see if I can post two examples
