Re: Narrow or wide

After encountering a lot of bridges on my travels, that were just logs tied together, I was pleased I had wide tires at the time as I felt that thin ones were more likely to slip into the sometimes wide cracks between the logs. So yes, arguments for both, but in my opinion a truck with marie biscuit...

Re: Narrow or wide

I think Peter has hit the nail on the head with the explanation that a thinner tire has a longer footprint and so works better in sand. I had always wondered why 4x4s up Africa favour a thinner tire and was surprised at the reason but it makes sense. I must admit though that it looks wrong and the f...

Re: pop up roof top tent, 2.2x1.4m

I dont know anything about the Alu pop up tents except the only person I spoke to who had one, complained that the rain came in through the windows because of the design. That was back in 2013 so the design has probably changed by now. I was however very envious at the speed he could take it down an...

Re: GU Patrol Air Guide

Hi Peter. That's quite interesting your travelling back home from Ghana. Are you going to go through Angola? If so, how did you arrange for a visa? I was told while in Ghana that I would have fly to South Africa, get a visa in Pretoria, fly back and then could cross Angola. I ask this as Angola has ...

Re: GU Patrol Air Guide

Hi Peter. Are you in Accra? If so, there are quite a few scrap yards there and quite a big choice. There is also a Nissan agent there who were very helpful. I took a taxi and the driver seemed to know where to go and also spoke the language which was a big help.

Re: Nissan Patrol 3.0TD 2005 model

With regards to the non starting, it could quite possibly be the fuel has seeped back and you need to prime it first using the lift pump on top of the diesel filter. It should not be too cold yet in East London for it to be glowplugs. If it still does not start take it as a warning and walk away. I ...

Re: Opinions on 98 Y61 4.2 non turbo

Hi Oscar and welcome to the forum. One thing that has not been mentioned in the posts is rust. I see the truck comes from the Ugu area and its gets quite salty there. I live across the road from the beach in Hibberdene and my previously immaculate Volvo started to show signs of rust within a year of...
