If I recall when I rebuilt the motor 151 000 km ago, the gasket was a weird type of graphite powder gasket. not sure if it was paper that was impregnated with a graphite powder or something. I doubt any kind of gasket making sealer would stick to the surface of the gasket itself. but that was about ...

The Durabak that I used is brilliant, but doesn't land up very thick, so its not a 4-5mm thick rubber lining so to speak. I used it on my rock sliders and I also painted a strip below the doors to prevent stones chipping the paint. I also did various areas on the undercarriage of the Patrol. it stic...

It seems like my water pump has decided to pack up. I have a spare water pump, but no gasket. Now my question.... can I use the good school "paper gasket" that one cuts out from a sheet one gets at the spares shop, which is affordable, or is it better to get an original from the stealers for a gazil...
