Injector failure

I thought I would share another experience from my trip through Africa... After finding the failed glow plug and putting the engine back together, it ran smoothly, but with no power. The garage tried everything they could think of, different MAFs, pipes, bench test of the injectors, etc., etc. but n...

Re: Glow plug failure

Sorry for the slow reply... There was quite a big piece of the glow plug missing, and that seemed to be partially embedded in the piston. The noise was very obvious, a very loud rattle, so carrying on was not really an option. But it still took a very long time to work out what the problem was. Not ...

I am looking for a steel bumper with jacking points for a GU Patrol wagon. Any recommendations?

Glow plug failure

Looks like the knocking in my engine was caused by a failed glow plug. Has anyone seen this before?

Re: Dust leak around handbrake

During my last trip to Botswana in my GU wagon, driving across Sua Pan there was a major dust storm coming out of the handbrake slot. I haven't investigated much yet, but any ideas if this is normal, or what the cause could be? I eventually took out the central storage compartment and found three l...

Re: ZD30 turbo whine

So after identifying the whine, the car suddenly started losing low range power. I took it to Rob Green in Randburg for a dyno check and they found that the variable nozzle was sticking. That sorted out the power, and the whine.

Vehicle Safe

Hi, has anyone had a safe fitted to their Patrol? If so where is it located in the car, and where did you get it from?

ZD30 turbo whine

Hi, my 2007 ZD30 (only 112,000km) has developed a faint whine at high revs. I want to do a major trip this year, is it worth taking a chance, or should I just change it out?
Nissan reckon about R25k for a new turbo, does anyone have any experience with options?

Re: Dust leak around handbrake

Under the leather gear-lever boot there is a second rubber boot. I suspect it might be that that is split. I would strongly recommend checking it out soonish, and if it is split, replace the gearbox oil, because if this is the case, some of that dust could have gotten into the gearbox as well. Than...
