Re: My V8

Alex,

De Wildt has a few nice mud pools off to the right. With all the rain we've had here (and at the moment), I guess it will be nice and wet. Water is generally at least 50cm deep.

Hope this helps.

Re: My V8

Awesome news Alex, glad you actually got to the real source of the problem. I can just imagine how anyone must feel to fear water crossings as they are generally fun and exciting. I'm sure the engine cover will do the job. You can maybe also look at modding the cowling a bit so it does not splash wa...

Re: My V8

Hi Alex, I had similar issues with my Lexus (with an engine cover). I too had stuttering & even lost cylinders when water was involved. My issue was that the spark plug tube & coil pack assembly were not seating properly on the heads, there were circular rubbers that had shrunk with age & water was ...

Re: My Shortie Thread

Alex, great news on the valve actually. It could have been way worse. Just a suggestion if I may, the head service is quite important on any vehicle, especially one with high mileage. It is usually advisable to have the engineers check the valve guides and make sure they are still in spec, new valve...

Re: Diff ratios

I think there may be two factors at work here:
1) The torque converter allows the use of a "faster" diff.
2) I think there may be an assumption that the GL is more likely to work hard, while the GRX is more likely to be used as a cruiser?

Re: REVIVE THE CLUB 2017 / 2018

I think that the old Nissan Club guys have almost all evolved into owning a Patrol. I think that there is a very negative stigma attached to the Patrol owners view of Nissan SA and Nissan Head Office, due to the feeling of Us as Patrol owners not really being cared for by Nissan. I cannot recall Ni...

Re: Bonnet for my 2008 Partol

It is shaped so that it cannot be put on back to front. I used to race motor cars (classic Alfas) and won the championship 3 years running for classic marque cars (pre 1975 street legal cars) in a 1969 1750 Berlina. In all those years of racing, I learnt a lot about cooling. I managed the cooling so...

Re: Y62 launch: 07 December

Good point, and probably valid, but... The people on this forum (by and large) love the Patrol for the values and characteristics of the Y60 and Y61 series. This, as you say, is a very different car. It does not have the qualties we (or many of us at any rate) are looking for. I am sure it has many ...

Potential Patrol newbie

Hi all, I've been lurking on this site for years now as well as doing regular online virtual Patrol tyre kicking. I need to replace our much loved '96 LR Disco V8i as our family bush holiday car as it's simply too small for us, lacks some basic safety features like airbags and ABS, and I have to pac...
