Re: Reduction gearboxes in the Hub

Just another thing I thought of, This is an extra gearbox per wheel Will that not increase the resistance and hence reduce the power to wheels? It will reduce power, but because of the gear ratios it will actually increase the torque at the wheels, depending on the ratio chosen. They usually use st...

Re: Wheelbearings

Wheel bearings are the same, but some of the seals are different due to the GQ's not having ABS sensors.

Re: Auxiliary Tanks

Alex, this whole issue is a tough one. I like long-range tanks. I think it is the best possible way to carry fuel, as it is low down (centre of gravity), out of the way and out of the cab (less risky/smelly. But one of my tanks leaks, and I have tried a number of times to find out where, to no affec...

Re: Awning Question

The weight in an awning is not in the canvas, but in the frame. My awning weighs around 20kg, but the canvas is only about 2-3kg (I use a lightweight material known as Poly-Oxford). Most of the rest is the frame. The awning is a 270 degree design with a 2m leg length and a metal box into which it fo...
