Re: REVIVE THE CLUB 2017 / 2018

There are a couple of things in my view essential to the success of a 4x4 club. 1) One of these is a strong partnership between the manufacturer and the club management. 2) The other is organising events. I'm afraid NOROC failed on both accounts. 1) Partnership: You can blame Nissan SA in part for t...

Re: Ausies seem to prefer diesel y61's?

I think most guys here would also prefer diesels. But because Nissan Sa made the strategic decision never to sell the 4.2 with a decent turbo here, and severely messed up with the 3l, and once they had sorted the issues with the engine, they were only available in GL trim level.... In other words, I...

Re: REVIVE THE CLUB 2017 / 2018

Morning Patrolers When the club was started, our idea was to have a platform were fellow Nissan 4x4 owner’s could meet, and go driving. We at one stage had it were we would have one organized drive a month, planned on the year planner. Plus an extra social drive (net vir die lekker). My view is that...

Home builts packing system in my Patrol

I use my Patrol solely for taking customers on Safari and family holidays to places like Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia and of course South Africa. I also do other African destinations. This is what I built into the back of my Patrol: Two slides, one above the other. The lower one houses two hi...

Strengthening lower control arms

The rear suspension's lower control arms are probably the parts of the Patrol's suspension that are the most prone to damage. We have seen a number of these bend, probably due to bround contact, but when that happens they just fold up the next time they are loaded heavily... The easiest way to beef ...

Re: Advise newbie

One thing I must add guys, it might sound a little bit rude but, when you buy a Patrol, then you should not care about fuel consumption. Its thirsty, period. But it gets you anywhere you want to go and beyond, ride is really comfortable and does not break easy. You simply can't go wrong in a Patrol!!

Presies my punt Errol....werk mooi vir ma se frottuna ...maar moenie river trip of so traai nie jy gaan short kom. Re: East Africa Trip 2020

Wat 'n klomp stront. Speak to Walter Gygax (Kalahari Safari here and on SA4x4), who uses Patrols extensively as a tour guide, Malcolm van Coller (same story) and Wilfred Moore, who has done a similar trip in his 4.5. To my mind, all modern vehicles have reasonably similar tech. If he can work on a C...

Alternator 101

There is a lot of talk about alternators on different pages on the forum with a lot of assumptions and some untruths. Here I will share what I know about 12v automotive alternators and how they function. If my facts are wrong , please correct them with factual proof. An alternator consists of a roto...
